Children Vision Screening
What would you do if you heard there was a machine that could save the eyesight of child?
The Venice Lions began offering screenings with a machine that can detect six different anomalies in the eyes of preschool children: namely, nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, pupil abnormalities, strabismus and anisometropia, all of which could lead to amblyopia (lazy eye). If uncorrected by the age of 6 or 7, the lazy eye could result in permanent reduced vision from disuse.
The Venice Lions have been visiting the preschools in our community, screening children six months to 6 years of age. Parents of children with alerts are referred to local vision care specialists.
