Richard was born in Glendora, California to a Lithuanian ophthalmologist and a registered nurse from Iowa.  He has been married to Dusty, who is now also a Lion, for over thirty years.  After graduating from Purdue University in 1991 Richard moved to Venice, Florida where he now has his own private audiology practice.  He was invited to join the Venice Lions Club by Past International Director Charles Mowery in 1996.     

      Since accepting the invitation to join the club he has started a hearing screening program conducted in conjunction with the monthly vision screenings at the Venice Health park.  He has been District 35-I Hearing Chairman for eight of the past thirteen years.  Lion Namikas has also served his club as president and received honors such as Lion of the Year, and is a Melvin Jones Fellow.  In September 2003 he completed his clinical doctorate in audiology.

       At home he enjoys cooking, growing roses and orchids, and planning future trips.  Travel gives him an excuse to take more photographs to share with friends and family when he gets home.
